About a month ago I, FiO Baby, was nominated as a TOP TEN FINALIST (Worldwide) in Campus Socialites “Best Rapper” Category!
During a quick interview I was asked how much this award would mean to me if I were to win. I told them this…
“of course I want to win, but its not about that. Its about the music itself and how it impacts those who listen to it. A lot of kids have come up to me throughout the year telling me stories about how my mixtape “Lost in Time” got them through some tough times they were going through, you can’t put a price on that.”
The rest of the interview went as follows:
If you could collaborate with any rapper, dead or alive, who would it be?
Frank Sinatra.
I know he’s not a rapper, but his voice is pure. He’s a true musician (as were Sammy Davis and Dean Martin), and I think if we were to work on a project together using his life experiences (war, America at the turn of the century, the Great Depression, personal, etc), my ideas, and todays digital recording I think we would be able to make something even Kanye West would call a masterpiece.

If you could sample one song, what would it be?
I’d choose the Back to the Future theme song…for three reasons:
1. I want to travel through time in a De Lorean with both Marty McFly and Dr. Emitt Brown.
2. I want the pair of “Power Laced Nikes” Marty McFly rocked in the year 2015.
3. Every other Back to the Future theme sample I’ve ever heard is garbage.

How would you define your flow?
To be honest, I’m not sure. I think this is a question for the listener.

If someone asked you to compare yourself to another rapper, who would it be?
I guess I most resemble “Condemn”. Condemn was an underground rapper I use to watch growing up as a kid. Everything about him was cool…except for his name.
But in all seriousness, I don’t like comparing myself to other artists or being compared to artists of any kind. I just try and do me because no one could do me better than me.

Madison Square Garden. Hands Down. I’ve been going there since I was a kid, pass by it everyday, and dream of selling it out!

Interviews regarding up and coming artists who attend the school, reviews of their performances, and a special issue on Charlie Sheen because he is quite possibly one of the funniest people to ever watch on television.

Name three people that you would bring along with you on your tour
bus, dead or alive?
There’s been arguments in the past about this exact question so my next move is to have a huge party with all my friends the night before the tour bus arrives. Which ever 3 friends can make it to the bus first the next morning are coming on tour. Bus leaves at 6am.
